Significance
This book is important because it can help football players to become better at reading plays and also teach you a few things about competitive sports. I care about this book because I have never experienced the feeling the kid in the book has and this book gets me close to experiencing it.
Perspective
This authors experiences influence his ideas in a large variety, one was he used to play pro football and this book is all about football and pro players. I bring knowledge of football to the book that helps me understand better what they are talking about.
Evidence
There is no argument in this book except between his mom and him. But the problem was that the kid's dad left him and his family and he tries to substitute his real dad with a pro football player his mom works for, also he tries to out impress a bully at school.
Connections
This book connects to the real world because it has real things like bullies, evil football dads and divorced marriages. This book has been influenced by the past from all the new technology that football helmets have and that the players even wear any sort of padding.
Supposition
Life would not feel that much different if this really happened because this book does not effect my real life at all it is just about a kid who does crazy things. If I changed part of the problem the book would have been a lot more dull and not exciting because there were a lot of big problems in this book.

Al Capone Does My Shirts By Gennifer Choldenko
Significance
This work matters because it has very dangerous people and also some very loving people. The author is trying to say that anything can happen if you put your mind to it. I chose this book because I have been close to Alcatraz and was very interested when I went there. Well in this book the kid does a lot of things that could have a negative reflection like sneaking Al Capone a letter.
Perspective
Gennifer Choldenko wrote this in the time period of the baby boomers. Well if you don't know much about mentally retarded people then it might affect your interpretation of the book. This book would be very hard to explain to a third grader because it has things regarding mentally ill people.
Evidence
The author is not trying to argue anything but if he was, the topic would be that anything is possible. This author uses very descriptive words and is very good at panting a picture in my mind. This book doesn't have to be factual because it is not a non-fiction book.
Connection
There is no history to this event because it is not real. The knowledge from this book will help me when I ever don't believe in myself. This book will make me read more books about life and less books about peoples life because this book was kind of depressing.
Supposition
If this book took place in a different political system there wood be no alcatraz because all of the criminals would have been kill. If you changed one of the elements alcatraz would not be a prison because it would be on land. Life today wouldn't be any different if this never happened because it is fiction.

Eddie Would Go By Stuart Holmes
Significance
This piece of work is very valuable because it teaches the whole and very exiting life of Eddie Aikau. This book also teaches the reader many valuable hawaiin lessons about mahalo. This book also helps me with my surfing by learning how to charge big waves and to help me with correct moral choises.
Evidence
The arguement the author is trying to make is that eddie aiko had a very good moral and a very good sence of nationality to the hawaiian islands. The author is presenting very factual information I know this because my brother actually interviewed the author and he told us how he got all the facts. I'm looking at these facts in a non biased eye because I completly look up to eddie.
Connection
The knowledge that Eddie is talking about is very deep and almost always about his family or friends. This story would inspire me to learn more about eddie Aikau or more about the hawaiin history. This book talks so much about the north shore that I would like to learn more about it.
Supposition
I can base a prediction that no one will ever find eddies body. If eddie was alive in this time era he might not have died and if he did die we might have found his body. If there was never water in this story there would be no story because eddie is a water man. If these events never happened then big wave surfing would be in its earleist stages.
Perspective
This book was written about people in the 1960's-1980's. The author of this book must have had problems writing it because he had to interview Eddies family which must have had problems talking about eddies death.

Keleas Gift-Chris Ahrens
Significance
This work matters because it has meaning to the world and also has very good lessons inside of it. All of the events in this book are important because they all helped progress surfing to where it is now. I chose this piece of art because i like to surf and am still getting better at surfing and like the stories it tells. In all of the situations in the book they are all either positive repercussions or negative ones such as falling on a 30 foot wave or catching it and riding the best wave of your life. This piece of work is valuable because it has so much knowledge of how the world works just like the alchemist. After reading this book you would learn things about surfing, about life and about others peoples lives that have a lot to do with the modern world.
Perspective
Chris Ahrens wrote this book. The time period in which this book is written about is from 1700 all the way through 2005. There is a small bias against non-surfers and people who don't like the water. If I had to explain this book to a third grader It would be pretty easy, all I would have to do is explain to them the surf words, I would also have to show them how big the waves in the book really are.
Evidence
The author isn't trying to make an argument but is trying to tells stories about controversial topics such as how big the waves were that day or how long the tube is. I have no evidence that everything in this book is fact except for Chris Ahrens word and all the other surfers in this book who tell there stories. This author uses very good detail to paint a picture into my mind. He is especially good at describing waves.
Connection
These events that are in this book helped progress the sport so much that if these events never happened the surfing world would be much different. This book applies to my own life because I like to surf and the whole book is about surfing. This book connects to my brothers life because he is an experienced surfer and a good swimmer and all around waterman.
Supposition
The world would change dramatically if these events never happened, first of all surfing would not be existent and the "hippie" generation would have never happened. If all these events took place in our time period than surfing would yet to become as famous as it is now. If this event took place in a different political system surfing might be illegal because it is kind of rebellious and Free.

Joyrides-Chris Ahrens
Significance
His Work matters to me because I know what he is writing about (Surfing, being a kid, Living life to the fullest) And all of those I have done and love or wish to do. Chris Ahrens is trying to tell the people of all his amazing journeys and what lessons he got from each one. Each lesson he learned he try's to tell others about from his stories, his friends stories, his families stories and every ones stories that have a meaning to this world.
Perspective
Chris Ahrens wrote this work in 1990 but this book has stories dating back to 1940. Chris Ahrens is for the idea that surfing is a fun thing and nobody should waste waves or make surfing not fun. People make surfing not fun by polluting. This books bias is not against non-surfers but is for surfers, what i am trying to say is that the whole book is about surfers for surfers or for people that are interested in surfing. This book would be very easy to read to a third grader except for the drug parts And surf sayings.
Evidence
This authors sources are very reliable because they are all his friends stories or his stories. He uses amazing details to describe waves or people or even cars in his stories. The stories that he tells i think are real because of all the detail he puts into them.
Connection
These events all helped the the revoulution about surfing. The knoweldge that I learned from this book I can use in life every day. This book inspired me to read all of his books. His oppionion affects everyone in the surfing world because he is so big in it. I experience waves every day because I live right next to them.
Supposition
This book would not be here if I changed one of the elements (Water). If this story took place in a earlier time period then surfing would have progressed a lot more. If these events never happend then surfing might not be around.

Good Things Love Water-Chris Ahrens
Significance
This work matters because it is a story of a surfer who writes about other surfers who really care about surfing enough to sacrafice almost there whole life to do it. I chose this piece of work because I am starting to surf more and was really intrested in a surfing book. I can use the concepts in this book by surfing without fear and respecting other surfers. A person would choose to read this because it has everything action, mystery, drama ect. After reading this book a person would take away a greater knowledge of surfing, survival and the life of Chris Ahrens.
Perspective
This piece of work was written in the 1990's but it is about people who lived in the 1950's through 1990's. This piece of work has a little bias against non-surfers. A person from the non-surfing community might think that everything in this book is crazy. It would not be hard to explain to a third grader exept for some of the drug references.
Evidence
The argument the author is trying to make is that surfing can change your life in a good way but it can also ruin or make your life worse. He is useing peoples life as evidence for example a guy who broke his neck surfing and also that people get rich and famous from surfing.
Connection
This event or time period advanced surfing from old to new. I can connect this book to almost Any body on the west coast because it is all about surfing. This book connects to me because i surf and the knowledge in the book helps me surf. This book will inspire me to read his other books such as Joyrides 1 And kalaes Gift.
Supposition
The book tells you that surfing will keep on getting better. If this story took place 100 years ago then surfing would have progressed a lot mor then it has today. If you did not have the recourses of the surf board this book would not have been written.
